Blessed Eugénie continued her studies in Le-Puy-en-Velay. At the start of the 1889 school year, Mrs Joubert enrolled her daughter Eugénie at the Sainte Marie du Puy school run by the Sisters of Notre-Dame. She boarded there for three years. She was 17 when she left Sainte-Marie.

Le Puy was also the place where her religious life began: the nascent Community of the Holy Family of the Sacred Heart lived at “Le Colombier”, near the bishop’s palace and the cathedral, in an old building, and during the summer, near Le Puy, in a house called “La Darne”, made available to the Community.
